I revisited Cape Rachado for a sunset hike to Bukit Batu Putih. The shortest and most direct way is via the road to the lighthouse, from the entrance of the forest reserve. At the base of the lighthouse, the Bukit Batu Putih trailhead is on the right, a short 300m trail with gentle inclines and a final near vertical ascent up a giant rock pile.
We made it in time for sunset, and what a glorious sunset it was. Perched atop the white rocks, we watched the sun as it disappeared into the horizon somewhere in the Straits of Malacca.

On the right, Monkey Bay appeared calm even as the waves advanced further up the beach along the coastline stretching towards PD town.
Our plan for the return trek is via Monkey Bay. With the tide coming in, care was taken to allow for sufficient time to get to the bay and connect to the forest trail before the path becomes inaccessible. The descent to Monkey Bay is easy, as it is all downhill.

In the fading light we trudged up the seemingly never ending uphill forest path to finally emerge on the tarmac road, just a short distance from the entrance.
Having done a sunrise hike in 2016, though each experience is different, both are equally AWESOME!
